I love fall.
I love everything about it - the brisk breeze rustling through the tree leaves, the colors, the smells, the calm sense of routine as people return home from holidays everyone gets back to "real life". I love pumpkin spiced lattes and Thanksgiving and school supplies spilling over the shelves at London Drugs. I love getting to wear my purple UGG boots and scarfs and waking up to frost on my window sills. But, most of all, I love how fall always feels like a new beginning.
I know most people make resolutions in January at the start of the new calendar year, but I've always measured years from September to September. Even though I'm no longer a student, September still very much feels like a new year, a new start. And with labor day weekend right around the corner, no better time than the present to make a few goals for autumn -
1. Love more. Love well.
I want to love on my friends & family more; do more random acts of kindness and spend more time truly serving the people around me.
2. Read The Great Gatsby ..
... because I haven't read it yet, and it's a classic.
3. Be more creative
Specifically, I want to scrapbook more. I miss it, I miss the days I used to scrapbook for several hours each week. I miss participating in online scrapbook challenges and going to crops and being "up to date" with all the new products, designers, etc. I know that I will never be able to be as into scrapbooking as I once was - there just aren't enough hours in the day! - but I do want to allow more time for creativity in my weekly schedule.
4. Go hiking with my boyfriend ...
.. because it's important to him and, therefore, it is important to me. Prayers that I do not have a cardiac arrest while hiking would be greatly appreciated as we all know strenuous physical activity like marching up the side of a mountain is just so NOT my thing.
